A New Gallery for Recycled Artwork by James Stewart
James Stewart is a local artist based in Goolwa, South Australia. A painter, photographer and sculptor, with an illustration, graphic designer career spanning 40 years, James produces artwork using a unique blend of recycled materials that reflect the environment he lives and works in on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
The local Fleurieu and Coorong were immortalised in Colin Thiele's novel Storm Boy. Like the main character in that novel, James is a big believer in turning what others see as discarded parts and rubbish into something wondrous and commanding in its presence and strength.
James accepts commissions and has produced a variety of art works for local residents, businesses and visiting tourists. Contact James for pricing on custom items or items ordered.
James has also been the recipient of a number of awards including the SA Great Arts Award 2 years running and the National Gold Catalogue Award.
As well as his home studio/workshop based gallery, James is also an exhibiting artist and member at 'Art@Goolwa' in Porter Street, Goolwa. Periodically exhibiting across the Fleurieu to Adelaide, James is currently seeking local public art projects with a view to produce the pieces and install during 2017.
